During the month of June, we are focusing on Step 6 on the Stewardship Well Done Journey – DEBT.

Ugh. Did you just get that sinking feeling in your stomach? Just mentioning the word DEBT can bring up so many heavy emotions – sadness, hopelessness, guilt, shame, just to name a few. These run contrary to the freedom and abundant life available in Christ. We aren’t talking about a prosperity gospel here … far from it! The freedom offered in Christ does not promise financial wealth. But the abundant life He came to give does bring love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are quite opposite from everything associated with debt!

We want to be clear from the beginning that we do not believe all debt is bad. In this step we are talking about getting rid of consumer and credit card debt and freeing yourself from a lifestyle of debt. It takes hard work, but it is attainable! There are many testimonies of people who have been able to pay off tens of thousands of dollars in consumer and credit card debt by working systematically over time toward this goal.

We invite you to watch the brief video above as we being to explore getting out of debt this month. And stay tuned … throughout the month we will offer more resources to help you on your journey. You aren’t alone.
